SMOVS is a local café and bar in Aarhus that originally relied mainly on Instagram to communicate with guests. The goal of this project was to create a clean, user-friendly website that could gather important information in one place and strengthen their digital presence.
The mockups shown here were designed in Figma as part of the early design process. They helped visualize the structure, layout, and flow of the website before development began. Through research, interviews, and user analysis, we identified the need for a more structured platform where visitors could easily find menus, events, and practical information.
The designs were created with a mobile-first approach, focusing on clear navigation and accessibility while reflecting the warm and social atmosphere of the café. These mockups formed the foundation for the final website and guided the transition from idea to finished product.
This project was developed in a group with two other students, where we worked closely together from research to final website. I mainly contributed with the web design and UX part, focusing on layout, structure, and creating a clear user experience. The collaboration went really well, and we supported each other throughout the process by sharing ideas and feedback.
I used Figma to design the layout, create wireframes, and develop full-page mockups. This helped shape the user experience and ensured a clear and consistent structure across the site.
The website was built using HTML, CSS and Java Script in Visual Studio Code. I helped translate the design into a responsive and functional layout.
Adobe Creative Cloud was used to prepare images and visual elements, supporting the overall look and feel of the website.
To create a consistent look and feel, we developed a design manual covering colors, typography, icons, and UI elements. This helped maintain a strong brand identity across the website and ensured a clear, structured user experience throughout the project.

Working on SMOVS gave me experience designing for a real business and understanding how user needs influence design decisions. Being part of a group project also showed me the importance of collaboration, communication, and feedback.
Since I focused mainly on UX and web design, I learned how structure and layout play a key role in making information easy to understand and navigate. It helped me think more about how users interact with a website and how design can guide them.
I also gained experience working closely with others in Figma, sharing ideas, and building a project together from concept to final result, which made me more confident in my design decisions and teamwork.
